Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) is proud to announce the 27th edition of the NSSF KAVC International Volleyball Championship, set to take place from 12th to 14th September 2025 at the iconic Lugogo Indoor Stadium in Kampala, Uganda.

Over the years, this tournament has grown into one of East and Central Africa’s premier volleyball events, attracting elite clubs and national teams from across the continent. The 2025 edition promises to be even bigger, featuring teams from 10 countries, offering a rich display of talent, passion, and sportsmanship.

Beyond the intense competition, the NSSF KAVC International is a celebration of unity, community, and the power of sport to inspire positive change. We are once again privileged to partner with our long-standing sponsor, National Social Security Fund (NSSF), whose support continues to elevate the game and provide a platform for young athletes to shine.

This year, the tournament will be held under the theme: “Sporting Excellence, Stronger Communities.”

The 2025 edition of the NSSF KAVC International Championship brought together 17 spirited primary school teams for a thrilling day of volleyball action. After intense preliminary rounds, four final matches have been set, featuring some of the brightest young talent in Ugandan volleyball.

The club has made significant reinforcements across both its men’s and women’s teams — welcoming fresh talent and bidding farewell to some familiar faces.

Coach’s corner: advice for productive player development

At KAVC, we believe that volleyball is more than just a game — it’s a lifelong journey of discipline, learning, and growth. In this edition of Coach’s Corner, we share key advice from our seasoned coaches on what it takes to develop into a well-rounded and productive player.

1. Master the Fundamentals

No amount of flair can substitute for solid basics. Good footwork, consistent passing, and proper technique form the backbone of any great player. “We always remind our athletes that doing the simple things well is what wins games,” says Coach Tom.

2. Be Coachable

Talent opens the door, but attitude keeps you on the team. Players who listen, adapt, and are open to feedback develop faster and become team assets. “Coaches don’t expect perfection—they expect progress,” a veteran KAVC coach emphasizes.

3. Play with Purpose

Whether it’s a routine drill or a championship match, players should approach every session with intent. Goal-setting, self-awareness, and reflection are habits we encourage at all levels of play.

4. Stay Committed to Fitness

Your body is your most important tool. Off-court conditioning, proper nutrition, and injury prevention are just as critical as on-court drills. A fit athlete is a reliable athlete.

5. Be a Student of the Game

Watch matches. Ask questions. Learn from both your peers and your opponents. Understanding tactics, reading plays, and making smart decisions are what elevate good players to great ones.
